Wedding DJ Hire North Wales
A wedding might be the most important day of your life. We can help prepare for your big day and keep it running smooth so everyone has a lovely time and a great party!
We want to make this special event go perfect and see everyone enjoying themselves.
A DJ is more than just a music player; they are pivotal to the day – from making announcements, playing background music during “drinks hour” (when photos are taken of the Bride & Groom with family members), meal-time, then playing certain songs for first dance and other special moments to make your wedding day unforgettable.

Understanding your vision for how the wedding should go and timing special parts of your day
Example wedding day DJ itinerary
(If a wedding ceremony is taking place at 3pm)
The DJ has already set up in the morning and will be ready to play music when yours guests start arriving at the reception area – usually while the newlyweds have photos taken.
4pm: Drinks hour, photos, chit-chat – the DJ plays easy listening background music.
5pm: The DJ asks guests to take their seats (More easy listening background music)
Bride / Groom entrance – if you wish we can play a specific song for your entrance to the restaurant / reception area
5.30: Evening meal (easy listening background music)
6.30: Speeches – usually follow dinner. The DJ will stop playing background music. Microphones are provided and the DJ is on hand to adjust volumes
7pm: First Dance – A key moment of the day. The DJ will play the song you chose for this special moment. Usually the bride and groom wish the DJ to announce for people to join them on the dancefloor.

After the first dance we will usually play a well known “anthem” – a famous song that people are familiar with and everyone can dance to.
E.g., after the first dance at this wedding, we played “Love Shack” by the B-52s, a very famous and fun song that people of all ages can dance to. After the first dance with couples on the dancefloor, almost everyone else got up to dance!
8.30pm: Buffet – the DJ will announce if there is a buffet, and usually slow the music down to background type songs for 30 minute or so to give people a chance to eat. Then continue with more up-tempo party music after guests have had a chance to eat.
A wedding party line dance and a special family moment. We were told after that this was the first time there were any pictures / videos of the family together like this.
Last Dance – if you wish, we will play a “Last Dance” song for you at the specified time. We played this off-the-cuff (i.e., unplanned) at a Scottish themed wedding (“The Proclaimers” of course are a Scottish band) and everyone is familiar with their song “500 Miles”, we requested over the mic for the remaining guests get up for this last song, it went down really well and we created a special moment to end the night.
Another “Last Dance” at an intimate wedding reception in Llandudno. This is the Groom’s favourite song, it was a very special moment to end the evening!
Other dances / events that some couples might like to have at their wedding:
Father/Daugher – Mother/Son – sometimes these dances are also done.
Bouquet throw – sometimes the bride will throw the bouquet of flowers in to the crowd.
Cake Cutting – if required we can play a specific song while you cut the cake and have more photos taken.
Ice breaker – the DJ can play some games and entertain the guests, break the ice between families who might not know each other.
All of the above is just an example. The wedding is your special day so it is entirely your decision. Have a vision of how you want things to run, timings etc and we will make the relevant announcements and play music accordingly. Of course we can assist you in planning the day if required.
Wedding disco at Faenol Fawr, Rhuddlan
Playing music accordingly
Some couple’s provide a playlist of special and specific songs, as it is their special day and certain songs are fitting – or we can read the room (more on this below).
If you provide a song list, your wedding DJ will have this prepared in advance, and also similar themed songs to keep the energy high on the dancefloor. Mixing styles of music appealing to different age groups to keep everyone entertained. All your favourite songs will be played and if there is room then some party anthems / big hits and crowd-pleasers from across the decades to keep your guests entertained all evening.
Adapting, reading the room, playing different styles of music and see what people are in the mood to dance to. If the dancefloor is busy, the DJ will keep the party going with more high energy songs. The DJ will likely play many different styles of music during the reception to keep all ages and tastes happy. Music might be played from 60s motown, 70s disco, 80s pop, 90s dance, 00s R&B & indie rock, etc. But of course we will discuss this with you beforehand.
Lighting and sound
Please let us know if flashing lights are a problem, e.g., if anyone you know suffers from epilepsy then we wont use flashing disco lights but slower moving lights instead.
